From April 2 to April 23, 2014, Professor Galin Vassilev Tihanov, an internationally renowned scholar, came to Peking University for an academic visit and held a series of speeches. Professor Tikhonov was born in 1964 and is currently Professor George Steiner at the Queen’s College London. Director of the Department of Comparative Literature is an academician of the Academia Europaea and honorary chairman of the ICLA Theoretical Committee. He mainly studies the history of literature and thought in Russia, Germany and Central and Eastern Europe. He is proficient in many languages, including Bulgarian (mother tongue), English, Russian and German. He is also a famous expert in the history of literary theory and thought.
