在一个秋高气爽的早晨,发胜请我去了他的画室,欣阅其多幅新作。我看他的人物画和花卉,全以生宣毛笔为之,而且背景满纸实填,笔墨以写意为主,绘画图式不俗、不板、不塞,层次丰富,那平实、清新、洒脱的精神素养透过他的画幅,充分表现在作品里。他的画,既有扎实的传统笔墨功底,又有浓烈的现代气息。难怪今年《美术报》要连发两辑,并由湖北省中国画研究院院长孔奇为其著文评介。
