上钢二厂位于杨浦大桥西侧,与举世瞩目的浦东新区一桥相连,是具有52年历史、以生产线材和金属制品为主的国有大型企业,是全国冶金行业最大的独立轧钢企业,在国务院发展研究中心和国家统计局联合友布的“1992年全国500家最大工业企业”中名列121位.全厂占地面积268万平方米,固定资产平均净值2.2亿元,拥有职工6564人.1993年实现销售收入19.5亿元,利润1.31亿元,上缴税金0.93亿元,已连续17年上缴利税逾亿元,是上海工业系统利税大户之一,各项经济技术指标长期居全国同行业领先地位.建国以来累计为国家上缴利税达39亿元,为上海经济的发展作了一定的贡献.
