Chiyou, regarded as an ancestor of Hmong and an ancient heroes, is an important figure in the myth of ancient Chinese history, famous for its historic war with the Yellow Emperor. His historical sites are widely circulated around the legends and epic poems of the Miao people in various places and have long been worshiped by the folk in the Yellow River Basin. They are also worshiped by ancient emperors including the Qin Shi Huang and the Han emperor. However, in the records of ancient literature, the image of Chiyou is very complicated and disorderly. There are also many contradictions in it, which make the academic circles still have many questions so far. For example, is Chiyou a great national hero or a “greedy” or “greedy” “chaos thief”? Is Chiyo and Yan Di the same person? Around these important issues, This article seeks to make a preliminary review of the various views in academia today, in order to make a modest contribution to further research.
