On January 27, 2010, American writer Jerome David Salinger died at his home in New Hampshire, U.S.A., at the age of 91. The Catcher of the Rye, published in 1951, is considered one of the classic works of American literature in the twentieth century. The book once swept the world, arousing strong resonance among young people, is still very popular. It can be said that it has influenced generations of American youth greatly. The book, based on the tone of Holden Caughfield, a 16-year-old middle-school student from a middle-class American family, tells the story of a couple of days after his fourth expedition to the bustling New York City. During this period, he came into contact with a wide range of people, most of whom were hypocritical hypocrites and saw all kinds of social delusions. He could not understand the world of human relationships in the real world and longs for people to treat each other in good faith, but unable to change the status quo. He had no choice but to depress, indulge in, indulge himself, and finally even want to escape from the real world, Dumb people life. This article is excerpted from the twenty-second chapter and the twenty-fifth chapter of the book.
