由于高效液相色谱法手性固定相(HPLC-CSP)在拆分立体异构体上所取得新的成就,已使药物制剂中对映体(Enantiomer)成份有可能得到快速的分析。利用Pirkle 发展的商品HPLS-CSP 亦已应用于给药前后快速、精密地测定一些药理活性物质的立体异构组成。对于作用强度、药理性质或血浆处置动力学过程不相同以及在体内可转型的对映体,研究其剂型中药物异构体的组成十分重要。例如普萘洛尔
