Objective To investigate the correlation between the level of serum macrophage inhibitory factor-1 (MIC-1) and T2DM and overweight and its clinical significance. Methods Ninety-one newly diagnosed T2DM patients (T2DM group) and 80 NGT patients (NGT group) were enrolled. BMI was divided into normal weight (B, D) group and overweight (A, C) group. MIC-1 levels were measured by ELISA. Results The concentration of MIC-1 in T2DM group was higher than that in NGT group (P <0.05). Correlation analysis showed that there was a positive correlation between MIC-1 and TG in T2DM group and a negative correlation with HDL-C. HDL-C is an independent and relevant factor for MIC-1. Conclusion The level of MIC-1 in patients with T2DM is elevated, which may be involved in the formation of abnormal lipid metabolism.
