This paper quotes the principle of least deformation of molecules and the principle of least movement to explain a situation that is quite common in organic reactions. That is, in a kinetically controlled reaction, the conformational comparison with the entry reaction of the reactants produces an initial product with as few changes in conformation as is often the predominant direction of the reaction. The stereochemical relationship between this conformational effect and the kinetic-controlled product is described. And suggested that this effect is called “the principle of least conformational change.” At the same time, it also introduces the concept of “forbidden conformation” and the effect of such conformation on organic reactions.
