At the beginning of this century, along with the eastward development of western academic ideas and literary history concepts, great changes have taken place in the study of Chinese opera. On the one hand, a large number of popular scholars try to use the Western aesthetic point of view and literature and art, sociological methods to study the history of ancient drama development, the aesthetic value of the work and the aesthetic characteristics of the art form. Outstanding representatives of which are Mr. Wang Guowei and his “song and Yuan opera test” various achievements, marking the rise of new music since the turn of the century. On the other hand, there are still some old-school scholars who are deeply influenced by the traditional academic thoughts and who study new ways but still follow the old research methods and research approaches.
