Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a key part of many clinical and pulmonary heart diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic mountain sickness and neonatal pulmonary disease. Our previous study demonstrated that κ-opioid peptides are able to prevent and treat HPH. More and more evidences show that the NO pathway is involved in the occurrence and development of HPH. In this review, we summarize the possible mechanism of NO signal pathway mediated by κ-opioid receptor in anti-HPH in our previous study, which can provide new academic insights for preventing and treating HPH.
