A DESIRABLE SECTION FOR THE DEVONIANCARBONIFEROUS BOUNDARY STRATOTYPE IN GUILIN, GUANGXI, SOUTH CHIN

This paper presents the description of the Nanbiancun section in Guilin, Guangxi, South China, wherc the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary beds are well developed and exposed and can serve as the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary stratotype. This is the only section hitherto found in the world that displays the praesulcata—sulcata evolutional lineage and is in accordance with the operating definition of the D-C boundary. A. proposal is made to take the Nanbiancun section as one of the best candidate sections for the D-C boundary stratotype.
