西部民族地区小城镇建设是西部大开发战略的一项重要工程,也是民族地区一项复杂、系统、长远的社会性工程,我们应当对其中一些内在的并互为联系的问题有明确的认识。以贵州省黔东南苗族侗族自治州为例分析;民族地区小城镇建设的根本性目标和阶段性目标,小城镇建设的普及性与重点性,承担小城镇建设的主体性组织和商业性组织,小城镇中的主导性产业与多样性产业问题,实现人口向小城镇聚集与适宜的政策等。对以上问题如能始终保持清醒的认识并正确处理,西部民族地区小城镇建设就会有大的发展,城镇化步伐就会大大加快。
