Genistein is an isoflavone monomeric component extracted from the dried ripe fruit of the legume Sophora ajaponica L. It has a weak estrogen-like effect and is not an estrogenic compound, which is called phytoestrogen. Epidemiological investigations, animal experiments and clinical observations have found that isoflavones can effectively prevent osteoporosis by inhibiting bone resorption and promoting bone formation processes and maintaining the dynamic balance of bone metabolism.
