The International Symposium on the Mathematical Problems of the Thermal and Dynamical State of the Earth’s Surfaces was held in Los Angeles, United States from July 28 to August 2, 1980 at Lake Arrowhead, University of California. There are 84 scientists from the United States, Britain, Canada, China, France, Australia, West Germany, Italy, Japan, India and East Germany. The meeting was hosted by the University of California, Los Angeles and hosted by the Joint Geostatistical Geophysical Commission of the International Geodesy and Geophysics Union (IUGG), the American Geophysical Association and the European Earth
