榉树在日本分布广泛,树形美观,当作行道树和庭园树,有着风景幽雅的优点,被作为绿化树,蔽阴树种栽植。而且生长也良好,材质耐用,近来作为优良阔叶树种用于林地造林的趋势也与日俱增,故此,今后对苗木的需要会随之增加。 榉树扦插困难,除了特殊情况,一般用种子繁殖,可是种子有丰歉,由于管理方法问题其发芽率亦低,有关种子采收、贮藏和促进发芽方法等等尚不完全明确,因此,根据观察和现存资料就有关榉树种子采收到播种一连串的管理方法提出报告:
