From 19 to 19 August 1957, in Zhudu, Prague, the People’s Republic of Czechoslovakia, a meeting of representatives of bee science research institutions in the people’s democracies was held. During the 16th International Conference on Beekeeping, held in Vienna, the beekeeping agency of Czechoslovakia put forward the initiative of scientific cooperation on beekeeping research in people’s democratic countries and won the unanimous approval of the delegates. The meeting was convened by the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences; the Czech Beekeeping Institute and the Czech Apiculture Association were the direct organizers of the conference. The meeting was attended by representatives from the following countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, the Soviet Union, the Czech Republic and South Africa
