“根艺”、“根型”(树根造型)、“根雕”三者的共同点即都没有脱离“根”的范畴。但从目前已经客观存在的三个名词上分析,它们的含义是有所不同的。所谓“根艺”即包括了树根艺术的全部,而“根型”与“根雕”两者却是“根艺”中派生出来的两个并列的“支脉”,随着创作的不断发展,说不定还会有新的“根艺”支脉出现呢。这在艺术走向繁荣的黄金时代里是很有可能的。如果用一个简单的图来表示他们三者的关系就是:
