1880年■郑观应撰《易言》出版。该书凡36篇,有《论商务》、《论开矿》、《论鸦片》、《论裹足》等,论述了中国除弊兴利的变法之道,主张中国开矿,兴办各种机器工业,批评妇女裹足等陋习;并在一定程度上批判了中国封建君主专制,主张中国仿行西方君主立宪制,是当时中国宣传变法的代表作之一。■朱克敬编《边事汇钞》刊行。该书为研究中国古代军事和外交关系的重要史料。
