Art Theory Materials is a publication of East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art) published in the late 1950s to introduce Soviet art theory. From April 1957 to December 1958, there were 18 issues in total. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts set up a compilation room of art theory and organized a translation team consisting of Ni Huanzhi, Zhao Qi, Zhu Jinlou, Qian Jingchang, Yang Chengyin, Yan Mohan and Lin Wenxia. “Art Theory Data” continues the translation tradition started by the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in the early 1950s.
