邵阳市辖九县,现有8个乡镇图书馆(隆回、武岗、城步三县至今尚无),能正常发展并做出较大成绩有2个,采取多种办法维持下来的4个,时停时开或基本垮了的2个。我市的8个乡镇图书馆是在85年到88年陆续建立的。建馆初期8馆总藏书58,780册,到90年6月止藏书发展到64,130册,增加5,350册。购书费总数年平均为4,000元,馆舍总面积681m~2,图书外借、阅览年总计24,000人次。
