NBA有个比较奇怪的现象:天赋异禀的球员不见得能在联盟里混得很久,比如前来中国打球的斯蒂芬·马布里,以及开汽车修配厂都能破产的斯普瑞维尔。可是有些人,既没有天赋,也没有惊人的数据,其中一部分人甚至经常连大名单都进不去,但他们无论在哪里都能受到重用,他们在联盟中的生存状况要比那些“大腕”们滋润得多。人生如戏,有主角就得有配角和龙套。龙套也有优劣之分,有的甘于平庸,有的却能夹缝中求生存,甚至成为球队不可缺少的一块拼图。这其中有智慧的成分,有性格使然,也有运气的成分,不过归根结底,还是要耐得住寂寞,才能“守得云开见月明”。很多时候,龙套们打的的确是寂寞,而不是篮球。
