According to the US magazine “Electronics” magazine July 6, 1970 reported that the “United States Radio Company” laboratory nematic liquid crystal and cholesteric liquid crystal were mixed to obtain a liquid crystal. Transparent screens become opaque when DC or low frequency signals are applied (a 6 micron thick liquid crystal plus 25-30 volts). After the voltage is removed, the light scattering can still be maintained, and the reflection contrast gradually decreases with time, reaching about 7: 1. This value can be kept for a few hours, a few days or even longer time. This time varies by process and material. If coupled with an AC signal in the kilohertz range, this screen can be quickly (milliseconds) transparent and form an erased state.
