档案文献是社会生活的真实记载,是学者研究历史的重要依据,是传世之作。所以编纂档案,不仅要材料真实可靠,在语言文字上,必须力求正确无误,否则将会贻误后世。 我们现在编纂的档案文献,大都是清末至解放前的文书档案,不论是公文、信札、电报、合同、章程等都是文言,又是繁体字,而且大多是用毛笔书写的行书或草书,又无标点,这就给编纂者(特别是青年人)带来不少困难。 档案文献的编纂,固然应着眼于文献史料的价值,但语言、文字、标点的正确与否,也会直接影响史料的内容,影响文献的质量。如档案中记载原国民党监察院长于右任于1937年去奉化时,汽车在观海卫“抛锚”,其中“卫”字因是繁体,又是草写,很象“街”字,因此误为“观海街”。如以后历史学家研究涉及到这一问题时,一定
