As the demand for legal translation continues to rise, the professionalization of legal translators is imminent. Compared with the legal translation teaching and researching in the developed countries in Europe and the United States, the legal translation teaching and research in our country started relatively late and the curriculum is not reasonable. In the past two decades, many changes have taken place in the translation profession, which requires us to adjust the traditional curriculum so that the contents of the course reflect the requirements on some other translators’ abilities. This paper selects a undergraduate course of China University of Political Science and Law as a pilot, and puts forward suggestions on how to set up legal translation courses based on the training of legal translators’ professional competence. The article also discusses the assessment of learning outcomes set in this course, based on the student’s learning profile and a questionnaire completed by them.
