This study investigated the effect of sympathetic vasoconstriction on stenosed coronary artery segmental resistance. Methods In 14 anesthetized thoracotomy dogs, artificial ventilation was performed to maintain arterial PO_2 at 70-80 mmHg and pH 7.35-7.45. The left main branch of the coronary artery was isolated and the left tributary flow volume, distal left coronary artery pressure and thoracic aortic pressure were measured and the electrocardiogram was recorded.
