Asbestos has drawn the attention of 5,000 years of history. Due to its unique use, it has become an important raw material in many modern industries, and its negative effects on health are gradually drawing attention. Especially since 1950, more and more knowledge has accumulated on the carcinogenicity of asbestos. The issue under discussion in this article is how society should deal with a substance that is known to be a carcinogen, especially the very own community. 1. Awareness of asbestos as a health hazard In 1906, a London doctor saw a 33-year-old male worker who had asbestos mixing died of a severe scarring of lung (asbestosis) in 1906 who was the last of 10 A dead person. In 1924, another doctor reported that there was a “fantastic body” in the lungs of a woman asbestos worker. As of 1930, asbestos was confirmed as a carcinogen.
