宋词是宋代最具影响的文化元素之一。词人填词选用词牌往往与作品内容和意境相关。源于唐代边塞曲的《八声甘州》,由于古代甘州特殊人文地理的专属个性而形成鲜明的情感基调。从初创的柳永起,到后来的苏轼、辛弃疾和张炎等重要词人,所作《八声甘州》都有一种共通的情韵与格调,展现的是旷远、雄浑的境界和沉郁、低徊的韵味,兼具婉约词派的蕴藉才情和豪放词派的恢宏气象。《八声甘州》成为了婉约、豪放两大词派的交汇点。
