业师沈天佑教授去世后,我在整理沈老师的文稿时,发现了吴组缃先生的一篇散文手稿,未见发表。20世纪80年代后期,吴先生与沈老师合作撰写《宋元文学史稿》、《明清文学史稿》,合作方式为吴先生将自己的宋元明清文学史讲义交给沈老师,沈老师进行整理和增补,再交吴先生审订。《宋元文学史稿》1989年由北京大学出版社出版,《明清文学史稿》因故未能完成。吴先生的这篇散文手稿就夹在文学史讲义中。全文如下:
After the death of Professor Shen Tianyou, an instructor, I found an essay manuscript written by Mr. Wu Zuoyun, which I did not see published. In the late 1980s, Mr. Wu collaborated with Professor Shen to write the draft of the history of the Song and Yuan Dynasties and the draft of the history of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The cooperation mode was that Mr. Wu presented his lectures on the history of literature in Ming and Qing Dynasties to Mr. Shen and Mr. Shen Organize and supplement, then submit Mr. Wu review. “Song and Yuan Dynasties Literary History Draft” was published by Peking University Press in 1989, “History of Ming and Qing Dynasties Literature” for some reason failed to complete. Mr. Wu’s essay on this essay caught in the history of literature. The full text is as follows:
