在开始接受设计师这一职业训练与设计教育时起,就一直对自己是什么存在一个疑惑?艺术家抑或是一个工程技术人员,作为一名设计师,该如何给自己定位?与客户对话? 设计要兼顾到物质和精神两方面,这已为设计师之共识。在物质这一范畴,我们应考虑到功能使用的合理,材质选用的合理,装修造价的合理,以及要考虑到日后维护的方便。而随着商品社会的发展,亦使设计成为一种促销手段,因而设计师要着重考虑经济因素的制约。在精神范畴,人类需求则更趋复杂。在建筑与室内设计这一领域,先民住山洞、搭窝棚,从寻求避护所开始,以满足其生理需求。发展到现在,设计师最基本的是要创造舒适安全、使用方便合理的空间。
