在11月上旬结束的美国国会中期选举中,卧薪尝胆12年的民主党终于夺回了对参众两院的控制权。按照美国宪法,众议院多数党领袖自动成为众议院议长。南希·佩罗西于是轻松收获了议长职位和美国历史上首位女议长头衔。这对布什和国会山的共和党议员可不是好消息。因为这位外表慈祥、从不在办公室穿职业装的“老奶奶”,在国会发言时的强硬姿态和犀利言辞让他们至今都心有余悸。
In the mid-term U.S. parliamentary election that ended in early November, the Democratic Party, which has been reviving for 12 years, has finally regained control of the Senate and both houses. According to the U.S. Constitution, the majority leader in the House of Representatives automatically becomes Speaker of the House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi then easily won the speaker’s office and the title of the first female speaker in American history. This is not good news for Republicans in Bush and Capitol Hill. Because of the outward appearance of kindness, never in the office to wear professional “grandmother”, tough words and sharp words in the parliamentary speech so that they are still lingering fear.
