Vocabulary is one of the three most important elements of the English language and is the most basic unit of language. With the advancement of new curriculum reform in senior high school, the methods of teaching high school English vocabulary should be improved. High school “English Curriculum Standards” put forward higher requirements on the vocabulary mastered by students. Nine levels of vocabulary learning requires students to learn to use about 4500 words and a certain number of idioms or fixed collocation, according to the communication topics, occasions and interpersonal relationships and other related factors to choose the appropriate words to communicate or express.
