[PRINT International, Princeton, NJ, July 23, 1981] Scientists today claim to have developed a drug that they believe could evolve into a new class of new antibiotics that fight serious drug-resistant infections in hospitalized patients. The new drug, called Monobactam, is extracted from bacteria in the soil. This medicine has clearly different properties from penicillin and Cephalosporin. There are 8 kinds of antibiotics derived from mycophenolate. In a report at the 12th International Conference on Chemotherapy held in Florence, Italy, researchers at the Squibb Institute of Medicine said the new drug was specifically identified as SQ26776.
