New YorkNovember 15,2000Dear Wang Mei:The new Flushing Library which is a four-level building with a total of 76,000 square feet,wasunder construction when you were here last time.It’s been open to the public for a year now.It is right inthe downtown area of Flushing,a multilingual,multicultural neighborhood,with many recent immigrants.The architecture makes readily accessible the collection of materials offered to the public.The needs ofthe whole community were taken into account while designing the library.It is really a landmark.
