According to Japan’s Kyodo News Agency reported that the Indian government has officially agreed on November 8 exports of rare earth to Japan. Indian Prime Minister Singh visited Japan on the 15th and the two governments signed a Memorandum of Import and Export of Rare Earths in Tokyo on the 16th. According to estimates made by the two countries in previous negotiations, India can annually export about 5,000 tons of rare earth to Japan, equivalent to 10% of Japan’s demand. Toyota Tsusho will jointly produce rare earths with India’s Rare Earths, a unit of India’s Nuclear Energy Corp., and Toyota Tsusho will be responsible for separation and refining.
