Phytosanitary, strictly speaking, means that the plant is kept in isolation until it is confirmed that it is healthy. However, it is customary to extend the meaning of this term to all aspects of regulatory control concerning the transfer of living plants, living plant tissues and plant products between different administrative regions or between different ecologically-based areas. The term “quarantine” and “post-entry quarantine” are used to refer to plant quarantine and post-quarantine plant quarantine inspection during transport, respectively.
