这些年来,在某些高校或学术团体中,常常以五四时期“兼容并包”的口号相标榜,或为营造科学文化发展所要求的学术自由的氛围,间或也为某种错误观点、错误思潮的出现作辩解。诚然,兼容并包作为学术自由的一种主张,在近代历史上曾经起过非常进步的作用,那么,在新的历史条件下,是否要重复过去这样的口号?我们究竟应当怎样历史地、辩证地认识这个主张?这确是值得研究的一个问题。
