Supramolecular polymers represent a class of polymers constructed by dynamic non-covalent bonds which can selectively undergo reversible breaking and reformation.As these relatively weak dynamic bonds are generally under breaking-reformation equilibrium,supramolecular polymers can adapt their structures and properties in response to an external stimulus.Here we designed and synthesized a series of materials based on self-complementary quadruple hydrogen bonds,and tune their physical properties by adjusting the composition.At the low hydrogen bonds content state,the materials behave just like rubber with strong strain-rate dependent characteristics.At the high hydrogen bonds content state,the materials perform as supramolecular polymers which possess both strain-rate dependent and temperature-dependent characteristics.The strong temperature-dependent characteristics of this material make it possible to maintain its shape at room temperature while performs like “silly putty” at a relatively high temperature.The easily adjustable materials with quick thermo-response will be possibly utilized to prepare polymer materials with complicated shapes.
