Chronic heart failure is a complex clinical syndrome with impaired myocardial contractility.Failing cardiomyocytes exhibit decreased efficiency of Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR).The down-regulation of junctophilin-2 (JP2), a structural protein anchoring the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) to T-tubules (TTs), has been identified as a major mechanism underlying the defective CICR.However, the regulatory mechanism of JP2 remains unknown. Here we report that miR-24, a microRNA up-regulated in heart failure, is an immediate upstream suppressor of JP2.Bioinformatic analysis predicted two potential binding sites of miR-24 in the3-untranslated regions of JP2 mRNA.
