A method was developed for the quantitative analysis of amino acids in Sheng-Mai-San (SMS), using micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) in uncoated fused silica capillaries and UV detection.The influence of different parameters, such as the organic modifier and applied voltage on the MEKC separation of amino acids was investigated.A good compromise between resolution and migration time was obtained by use ofa 70mM SDS on borate buffer (pH 9.5, I=40mM) with 15% acetonitrile.That method was applied to determine amino acid in SMS and SMS market formulas samples.
