Over three hundred cultivars of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) are distributed in Saudi Arabia.Identification of these cultivars is difficult based on the external appearance especially in early stage of development until fruiting stage.But at fruiting stage,these cultivars exhibit quantitative and qualitative differences.The objective of the current study was to develop a marker system to differentiate date palm cultivars using molecular techniques.
