Damage in many civil and mechanical structural systems can induce nonlinear behaviors in the system responses.Such damage includes breathing cracks, clearance between subassemblies, and looseness etc, and nonlinear stiffness and/or damping etc components are often used to represent the characteristics of damaged components of this nature [1, 2].As a result, the existence of these damaged components could be detected and their locations could be found out by analyzing nonlinear features of the system responses.Motivated by this observation, in the present study, a new transmissibility analysis based approach is proposed to address this significant engineering structure damage detection and location problem.
