Catalytic ozone aqueous decomposition using pumice has been recently reported.However,there is a lack in the information related to the influence of pumice active surface sites in this combined system.The decomposition rate of ozone in water was measured over pumice and the mechanism of ozone catalytic decomposition was discussed,and to investigate the influences of pumice chemical surface properties in the present study.Pumice samples with different chemical surface compositions were prepared from pumice.The effect of element concentration,pHPZC,and surface hydroxyl groups were assessed.Results obtained indicate that element concentration,pHPZC,and density of the surface hydroxyl groups of pumice play a key role on the catalytic ozonation mechanism,which result in the accelerated initiation of ?OH.
