introduction: Organophosphates (OPs) are highly toxic synthetic chemicals with no natural analogs.Since the middle of the last century, these compounds have been widely used as agricultural pesticides and nerve agents, which are serious threats to food safety and environment.Proteins in β-lactamase superfamily, such as OPHC2 and MPH, naturally evolved the ability to hydrolyze OP pesticides.However, the phosphotriesterase (PTE) activity origin and evolution of these enzymes remained unclear.
