Background Rupture of the instable atherosclerotic plaque is the major cause of morbidity and mortality of atherosclerosis in human.Direct human research is limited by ethics and the inability to control experiment,so an appropriate animal model is necessary.We sought to developed a novel animal model of unstable or rupture atherosclerotic plaque to be a tool for the new therapeutic target and diagnostic techniques.
