A rapid, accurate and sensitive method was developed and validated for simultaneous determination of steroid hormones and endocrine-disrupting compounds in infant urine. The target compounds were extracted by liquid-liquid extraction, derived with dansyl chloride and injected to high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry in positive mode. The spiked recoveries ranged from 83% to 110% with relative standard variation below 15%.The limit of detection ranged from 0.005 to 0.05 ng/ml urine. The method was applied on a preliminary investigation in 30 urine samples collected from 16 infants.Bisphenol A, triclosan, nonylphenol, and estrone were ubiquitously detected in these samples.
