　　Endopolyploidy has been found in all tissues except the pollinia during plant development in several Phalaenopsis orchids.Endopolyploidy is caused by endoreduplication/endomitosis, in which mitosis/cytokinesis is not completed after one or several rounds of DNA replication and results in more amount of DNA content.A higher degree of endopolyploidy was observed in mature tissues compared to young tissues.
