Emerging from subterranean darkness and rapidly establishing photosynthesis upon light is essential for flowering plants to colonize the land.As seeds are buried in various soil or litter environments under darkness, it is intriguing how the etiolated seedlings handle these different situations to grow out and acquire autophototrophic capacity without causing photooxidative damage.
