O3 and H2O2 in urban during the 2015 Megacity Air Pollution Studies(MAPS)-Seoul Campaign

  O3 is mainly produced by photochemical reaction of the nitrogen oxides(NO+NO2= NOx)emitted from vehicles and VOCs.H2O2 plays a role as a reservoir for amounts of HOx andNOx which triggers increasing ozone in the atmosphere.In order to verify O3 chemistry in urbansite,O3,NO,NO2,CO,SO2,Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),and Methyl hydrogen peroxide(CH3OOH; MHP)were measured from May 18,2015 to June 12.VOCs were measured withcanister twice a day(09:30 and 15:00).The measuring site was installed in Korea Institute ofScience and Technology(KIST)in Seoul during the 2015 MAPS-Seoul Campaign.The west sideof KIST site was surrounded by freeways and the forest was located at the east side.O3 ranged from 2 to 155 ppbv,and appeared several high concentration events over 100 ppbv(5/27,5/28,6/4,6/6,6/7,6/10).H2O2 was usually present in the order of several dozens of pptvlevel(17 ±10 pptv)and diurnal variation which depends on the photochemical reaction was clarify.Average concentrations of NOX,Isoprene and Toluene were 26ppbv,0.7ppbv,and 3.1ppbv.Although O3,Isoprene were higher in June,H2O2,NOx,Toluene were lower than that in May.To exactly find out the O3 formation mechanism,VOCs,Nitrogen Compound and otherpollutants analysis would be required.These studies will be useful to understand the O3 Sensitivityduring 2015 MAPS-Seoul Campaign.
