As a genetic parameter, heritability has taken part in an important role in animal and plant genetic breeding.In order to design an appropriate breeding program and improve the production traits of the noble scallop Chlamys nobilis, the narrow heritability for hatching rate, larval survival and growth at different stages was estimated by means of intra group correlation in full-sib, respectively.Based on a nested design, 9 half-sib families (or 27 full-sib families) were established by artificial fertilization of three females with a single male.The narrow heritability for growth was 1.08, 1.07, 0.85, 0.57 and 0.19 in shell length and 1.17, 0.97, 0.96, 0.53 and 0.13 in shell height on day 7, 10, 50, 130 and 360, respectively.The narrow heritability for hatching rate was 0.117, which for larval survival was 0.260 and 0.414 on day 4 and day 10, respectively.The present results indicate that the mass selection for growth will achieve a positive genetic progress in the noble scallop.
