Landfill site is one of the most important sources of greenhouse gas emissions.The available information shows that greenhouse gas emissions from the landfill sites are 40%-50% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in America.Based on the mechanism of anaerobic degradation process of organic refuse in landfill,a detail calculating method was proposed to work out the quantity of greenhouse gas.The result shows that,0.728,0.417,0.340,0.4021ilitre of CH4 and 0.316,0.288,0.308,0.3301ilitre of CO2 are generated from the animal refuse,the plant refuse(including the kitchen refuse),paper and the woods respectively (per kilogram refuse by net weight).The conclusion accords closely with the experimental result from available information.Based on the conclusion,quantity of greenhouse emission from landfill can be predicted if all sorts of organic refuse are measured.Finally,some measures of cutting green house gas yielding are suggested and some advices of research about these measures in the future in China are also given.
